Appendix B: Special folders
The cache folder
The Cache Folder on each ECC Client is used for two purposes:
To store copies of JobFiles for previous or currently running tasks
As the parent folder for The Working Folder (described below).
For Windows computers, the Cache Folder is read from the Registry on each ECC Client computer, from the 32-bit Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nuix\Nuix Enterprise Collection Center\Version 1.0\Client, value TempFolder, which is set when ECC Client is first installed.
Default cache folder on Windows Vista / Server 2008 and newer
C:\ProgramData\Nuix\Nuix Enterprise Collection Center\CcClient
Default cache folder (directory) on Linux 32-bit, Linux 64-bit, and macOS 64-bit
/usr/local/nuix/cache
The working folder
The Working Folder on each ECC Client is used for two purposes:
As the Current Directory for the command executed by a Launch Command task
As the Local Destination Folder for a Deploy Task
The Working Folder on each ECC Client is the Deploy sub-folder under The Cache Folder (described above). For example, the Working Folder, Current Directory and Deploy Destination on an ECC Client computer running Windows 7 is:
C:\ProgramData\Nuix\Nuix Enterprise Collection Center\CcClient\Deploy
Collect tasks can refer to the Working Folder on each ECC Client computer using the JobFile variable {ECC.WorkingFolder}.
