Introduction

Welcome to the Nuix Collector and ECC JobFile Reference Guide.

About JobFiles for Collector and ECC

Nuix Collector and Nuix Enterprise Collection Center both use JobFiles to configure several kinds of jobs, including collections, extractions, deletions*, surveys, volatile information collections, RAM image collections and disk image collections. Nuix Enterprise Collection Center can also perform several other jobs, using various JobFile formats; for details see topic JobFile Types.

* Requires a separate Deletion license for Nuix Collector Suite.

Tip: Nuix Collector Suite comes with several partially configured JobFiles (within the Modules folder). These files provide default values for the Collector Wizard and are excellent examples to use in conjunction with this JobFile Reference.

The sample JobFile excerpts in this guide include comments, e.g.:

<!-- sample XML comment -->

These comments can be omitted from your JobFiles.

About this guide

This guide provides reference information to assist with reviewing or modifying JobFiles using a text editor, XML editor or custom script. Editing of JobFiles is typically done via the Wizards available in Nuix Collector Suite and in Nuix Enterprise Collection Center. But expert users may find it helpful in some scenarios to manually edit JobFiles while referencing this guide. And some advanced features are available only by manually editing a JobFile.

The instructions in this guide assume that you are familiar with the technical and legal aspects of data collection and preservation.

Intended audience

Expert users of Nuix Collector Suite and/or Nuix Enterprise Collection Center who have a need to manually create, review, or edit a JobFile.
