Upload files for import

To select data locally for importing into the application, use the Upload button on the Imports page.

Important: Data must be in an archive file in a .zip, .rar, .7z, .tar, or tar.gz format. You can upload multipart archive files if they are in a .zip or .rar format.

There is no maximum archive size. However, depending on your network connection and activity, you may experience unreliable performance and failed uploads with archives of approximately 2 gigabytes (GB) or larger.

Upload files for import

To upload files for import:

On the Case Home page, under Manage Documents, click Imports.

Click Upload.

The Upload files dialog box appears.

If Aspera fast file transfer integration is enabled, select Use Aspera for faster data transfer. This option does not appear if integration with Aspera is not configured and enabled.

Note: If you select this option, but the required plug-in is not installed on your computer, a dialog box appears with instructions and a link to the Aspera Connect download page. After installing the plug-in, you must close and re-open your browser.

Under File source, click Browse to select the archive file.

Note: When the Aspera Connect plugin is installed, the Browse button uses the Aspera browse function.

If a password is needed to unzip the contents of the file, select the The file is password protected check box. In the Password box, type the password. When the upload is finished, the password is used to extract the archive.

In the Destination area, do the following:

In the File repository list, select the file repository to upload the data to. This list contains the file transfer repositories configured for your case.

For Folder Structure, select one of the following options:

To upload and extract files to the same folder structure that is used in the archive file, select Use the structure inside the archive file.

To upload and extract the files to an existing folder, select Add files to an existing folder. Select the folder name from the list that appears. Then, select Replace, Rename, or Skip to specify what the application should do to a file if another file in that folder has the same file name.

Note: If you select the Rename option, during extraction, if the name of a file or folder already exists in the destination, the application adds a numerical suffix to the name and does not overwrite any existing data.

To upload and extract the files to a new folder structure, select Create a new folder structure. Type the name of the new folder in the Folder name box.

Click Save.

The application extracts the files from the archive and deletes the archive.

Monitor upload progress

When you upload files, the processing session opens and takes place in a separate browser window. When multiple uploads or other application processing jobs occur, the most recent job appears at the top of the window. Information including the total number of items, the type of job, a progress bar, and the percentage of the job that is estimated to be complete also appears while the upload and other jobs are in progress. The estimate refreshes as the upload progresses.

Note: You can exit the case or refresh your browser during upload.

If an upload fails, the application displays specific error messages.
