Work with load file templates

A load file template is a file that specifies how to organize data to export documents in a specific format.

The application includes a set of predefined system load file templates. System templates contain the typical data load attributes required for nearly all types of export jobs. You can modify these attributes to create case-specific load file templates that meet the current case requirements.

You can also manually create a load file template. In a manually created load file template, you must specify all of the attributes and values to use in the load file.

Note: Instead of creating manual load file templates, we recommend that you use a system load file template. You can customize the template as needed to create a case-specific load file template.

The application provides two types of templates:

Document: Use a document load file template as a data load file. These templates provide the attributes of individual documents. In the database, each record, or row, in the document load file represents one document. An .mdb load file can also include information about the individual pages within a document.

Page: Use a page load file template as an image load file. These templates provide the attributes of individual pages. In the database, each record, or row, in the page load file represents one page.

The application supports two types of export jobs:

Production: Production export jobs use data from production rendition documents.

General: General export jobs use data from base documents.

Only case administrators can create or modify load file templates. After a case-specific load file template is created, the template appears in the list on the Load Files Templates page.

To export files, use the Export feature. For more information, see Export documents.

* The Summation image load file template is considered a document load file template because, although it lists one record per document, it lists all pages for the document.

Document Level ID for parent and attachment IDs

You can add document-level parent and attachment ID options for load file templates. When the load file template is used for exports, Nuix Discover uses the document level ID number, rather than the page level number, to populate these columns in the load file.

To add these fields to the load file template, on the Manage Documents > Load File Templates > (load file) > Columns > Add columns page, choose any of the following fields:

Family Attach Begin Document ID

Family Attach End Document ID

Family Attach Document IDs

Parent Document ID

These fields also appear on the Add columns from field list page, under both the Document Fields and Productions categories.

Note: The Productions category appears only when the load file template Export type is Production.

These fields are also available when using the variable builder.
