Timeline administration
Administrators can configure the Timeline settings described in the following table.
To set the following... |
Do this... |
Group permission to view and use the Timeline |
On the Case Home page, under Security, click Features. Select a permission for the Analysis - Timeline option. |
Default date field for the case |
On the Case Home page, under Case Setup, click Case Defaults. In the Timeline date list, select the default date for the case. The application default date is Document Date. |
Default date field for a group |
On the Case Home page, under Security, click Groups, and then select a group name. On the group's Properties page, in the Timeline date list, select a default date field for the group. In the Timeline pane date field list, the group icon appears next to the default date field. |
Group permission to date fields |
On the Case Home page, under Case Setup, click Fields or System Fields. Then, set group permissions to the applicable fields. For information about how to set permissions for user-created fields, see Set security for fields. For information about how to set permissions for system fields, see Set security for system fields. Date fields to which users do not have permission do not appear in the date field list on the Documents page. |
Default number of documents in the Timeline |
The default number of documents that appear in the Timeline is 50,000. If a document set contains more than this number of documents, a "Document threshold exceeded" message appears and you must reduce the size of the document set to view the documents in the Timeline. You can increase or decrease the default number of documents that appear in the Timeline. Increasing the number of documents may increase the processing time. To change the default number of documents that appear in the Timeline, in Portal Management, in the Cases and Servers section, on the Case Options page, change the Timeline document count threshold field. |
Users can configure additional Timeline settings. For more information about the settings that users can configure, see Configure the Timeline pane.
