Log directories

Each time you start Nuix Workstation, the application creates a new set of logs with its own time-stamped folder in the default location for your operating system. Nuix Workstation generates these logs to assist you and our support team identify the cause of an issue, should one arise.

Note: It is a good practice to always send the relevant logs to our support team for analysis with system diagnostic information. See the following System diagnostics section for details.

To locate the log directory in on a Windows OS:

From the Help menu select Open Log Directory to display the Logs folder.

Nvigate to ~\Users\[Current User]\AppData\Local\Nuix\Logs.

System diagnostics

Nuix Workstation generates a package of diagnostic information to help troubleshoot any issue. This package contains the logs from the currently open session and case, and information regarding the environment, but no actual data from your case.

Note: To redact any sensitive information out of Nuix logs or files from the diagnostics, Nuix recommends that you do not actually remove sections of these files but instead replace the sensitive words or paths with special characters, for example, 'xxxxxx'. This leaves the log structure intact, which in some cases is important when reading it as the actual information.

To access system diagnostics:

From the Help menu select System Diagnostics which opens on the Dependencies tab. This tab shows if all prerequisites are installed.

Review this list to ensure that all expected prerequisites are installed.

When a dependency is found to be missing, you are prompted to select the I understand the consequences of lacking this dependency checkbox.

Do so for each missing dependency.

Click OK.

Click Save to File and browse the path to save the diagnostics package.

A zip file downloads containing logs and a variety of artifacts to help troubleshoot your issue.
